Who were my ancestors? Where did they live? How were they employed? Who were the people responsible for me being here today?
Who were my ancestors? Where did they live? How were they employed? Who were the people responsible for me being here today?
I am sure these are questions we all have wondered about at one time or another especially after watching programs such as Who Do You Think You Are? on the BBC or listening to Digging Up Your Roots on BBC Radio Scotland. These programs have led to family tree tracing becoming increasingly popular in recent years.
Doing your own family research can be very interesting and rewarding but it can also be expensive and time-consuming. The cost of online searching or travelling to local or national family record centres can be greater than expected.
If you have always wanted to trace your Scottish ancestors but never seem to have the time, then why not allow me to do the hard work for you, saving you time and money and provide you with a window into your family's past.
We aim to, depending on the search option you choose, trace your ancestry as far back as possible using only authentic records held at the General Register Office of Scotland (GROS), Edinburgh.
The records include Statutory Registers of Births, Marriages and Deaths in Scotland from 1855 onwards, Census Records taken every ten years from 1841 to 1901 and Old Parish Registers (OPR) some of which date back to the mid 1500s.
